If you're a birding enthusiast, and have never travelled to South America, this affordable trip could be a great introduction for you. Uruguay is one of the smallest countries on the continent and boasts more than its fair share of fascinating birds. Located between the Argentine Pampas and the Brazilian Atlantic Forest, Uruguay is situated in a unique geographical position to support diverse and rich bird communities. A country of high avian diversity, with its varied habitats accessible by good highways and secondary roads, Uruguay is an easy and safe country for birders to visit.
Our idea is to offer an enjoyable birding experience tailored to suit your expectations, with basic but comfortable lodging in typical estancias (guest ranches), all meals and transportation within the country, and guide services. Being a native of Uruguay, I’m excited to offer this opportunity to show you the birds, landscapes and culture of the country I grew up in. About Jorge
Jorge developed a passion for wildlife during his teenage years, when he kept Southern Screamers and Lapwings as pets in his yard. His passion for nature lead him to pursue a career in teaching biology, and to sharing his knowledge of the natural world with others. Born in Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay, he has travelled around his home country and throughout South America, learning about and admiring the beauty of neotropical birds. In recent years, Jorge has visited Europe, Africa and Asia as part of scientific ornithological expeditions, or on his own, simply studying and photographing birds. Jorge now lives in the rural town of Willington, Connecticut, and when he's not traveling, he enjoys books (his other passion), music and his backyard birds. Please visit too:
